Local Family Sets Up Shop

No place could have been a better choice to open our facility in early 2019 than Jeff’s hometown of Carmichael. It truly takes a village, and we are so grateful for our community support and the guidance of friends, parents, family, and each other . All smiles on lease signing day shown here.

— Jeff and Rosie

Jeffrey Buck

Owner

Honda/ Acura Specialist

Master ASE Certified Technician and Mentor

Jeff was born and raised in the Sacramento area and has had a passion for cars and repair from a very young age. Instead of getting in trouble for parties when his parents would go out of town as a teenager, he would get in trouble for taking engines out of their cars and rebuilding them in the backyard! He began his professional study under the instruction of Dave Burkhard through the Automotive Technology Program at Del Campo High School here in Carmichael and completed courses at American River College and other technical schools in the area. He was granted scholarships and internships and was mentored by renown shop owner Kevin Nelson of Service Outlet in Roseville. Jeffrey has worked for auto repair shops and Honda dealerships in Carmichael, Folsom, Roseville, Sacramento, and Reno, NV as a technician and has held managerial positions as well. He has also continued his education and training, earning his ASE Master Technician Certification, the highest ASE certification possible, along with other certifications and training completions including Factory Honda Training, certification of after-market advanced diagnostics, advanced testing and analysis of CAN communication systems, and technical training of factory and after-market vehicle scan tool application.

After a decade in the industry, Jeffrey decided to open up the repair facility of his dreams and is excited to provide his hometown with high quality vehicle care. Buck Family Automotive is now an award-winning Carmichael staple and Jeff the proud owner. When he is not at the shop, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Rosie, and son, being out on the golf course, playing billiards (a Hardtimes Billiards local!), hanging out with his brothers, and spending time at local events.

Her philanthropic efforts reflect her dedication to ensuring every family can experience the same sense of welcome and opportunity that Carmichael provided to hers.

Pat Rennie

Shop Foreman

Hyundai/ Kia/ Genesis Specialist

Subspecialty: Honda

Pat Rennie’s journey into the world of automotive mechanics began with a different kind of engine in mind—aircraft. He started his training at Sacramento City College, where he studied aircraft mechanics, laying a strong foundation in precision and technical expertise. However, his passion for automotive work soon took the driver’s seat. Pat spent three years at Sears Automotive Center, where he expanded his knowledge and honed his skills working on a wide variety of vehicles.

Pat’s career took a specialized turn when he joined Roseville Hyundai, where he spent three years mastering the intricacies of Hyundai vehicles. His reputation as a Hyundai expert grew, leading him to further his specialization at Folsom Hyundai. It was during his time at Folsom Lake Honda, however, that Pat crossed paths with Jeff Buck. The two worked side by side, developing a strong professional bond that has come full circle with Pat’s arrival at Buck Family Automotive.

What Pat loves most about working in the automotive industry is the challenge of solving intricate problems and tackling the most difficult diagnostics. His analytical mind and attention to detail make him a standout technician, particularly when it comes to the unique demands of Hyundai vehicles.

When he’s not under the hood, Pat enjoys a range of hobbies that showcase his technical prowess and love for the outdoors. Whether he’s 3D printing, fishing, gunsmithing, or 4-wheeling in the Sierras, Pat brings the same dedication and enthusiasm to his personal interests as he does to his work.

We’re thrilled to have Pat on board at Buck Family Automotive, where his expertise and passion for the trade are invaluable assets to our team.

Timothy Oldridge

Service Advisor

Timothy brings lifelong automotive influence and industry experience to his role as Service Advisor at Buck Family Automotive. A graduate of Monrovia High School in Southern California, he relocated to Fair Oaks in 2012 and has proudly called the Sacramento area home ever since. Growing up with a father who worked as a mechanic, Timothy developed an early appreciation for the automotive trade and the importance of honest, dependable service.

He began his career in the automotive field at a car dealership before transitioning into the independent repair industry, where he found his strength in building trusted customer relationships and providing clear, straightforward guidance. In addition to his service experience, Timothy has a passion for car photography combining technical knowledge with a strong attention to detail and presentation. As a Service Advisor, he is committed to helping customers feel informed, confident, and well cared for throughout every visit.

Outside of the shop, Timothy enjoys roller skating with his daughter and has practiced aggressive inline skating since his teenage years. In his downtime, he also enjoys gaming — especially Skyrim — where strategy and adventure meet. Timothy brings energy, reliability, and a genuine passion for the automotive world to the Buck Family team.

Benjamin Slaughter

Benjamin began his journey with Buck Family Automotive as an intern and quickly distinguished himself through skill, discipline, and a strong work ethic. A graduate of Bella Vista High School, Benjamin excelled in his high school automotive program, where he consistently demonstrated technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a genuine passion for the trade. His performance in the program made it clear early on that he was serious about building a career in the automotive industry.

Following his successful internship, Benjamin transitioned into a full-time Automotive Technician role, earning his place through dedication and proven ability. He continues to expand his knowledge while pursuing a higher education at American River College. Benjamin approaches every repair with focus and pride, and he is committed to delivering quality workmanship while learning from the experienced technicians around him. His growth reflects Buck Family Automotive’s commitment to mentoring and developing the next generation of skilled professionals.

Raised in the Gold River and Rancho Cordova area, Benjamin enjoys spending time with friends, playing video games, and staying active in his church community. Benjamin represents both the future of the industry and the standard of excellence we value at Buck Family Automotive.

Freeman

Feral Shop Kitty

Freeman is Buck Family Automotive’s resident shop cat and one of our favorite success stories.

Freeman an ear-clipped feral kitty, which means they were humanely trapped, neutered, and released as part of a neighborhood cat colony program. Years ago, Freeman began quietly visiting the shop after hours, spotted first on security cameras looking for a late-night snack.

Jeff and Rosie started leaving food, fresh water, and warm blankets out. It took patience (and a lot of gentle consistency), but over time Freeman chose to make Buck Family Automotive their home.

Today, Freeman spends most days safely inside the shop in their own room in the back, enjoying warm naps, regular meals, and the company of people — on their own terms, of course. Freeman still has a little feral flair (they prefer outside time in the evenings, getting dirty sunbathing on the tire pile, and is still learning their manners), but Freeman is part of the Buck Family Automotive family.

Freeman is a reminder that trust takes time and care makes a difference.
